Penghana was designed in 1898 by Launceston architects Alfred and Sidney Luttrell for Robert Carl Sticht, the American metallurgist who ran the Mount Lyell Mining and Railway Company and transformed Queenstown into Tasmania’s largest industrial enterprise of the early twentieth century. The two-storey Queen Anne Federation mansion is now managed by the National Trust and operates as a guesthouse, preserving its original character — formal lounges, a substantial library, and a licensed wine bar serving Tasmanian wines and craft beers.

Four individually decorated queen ensuite rooms and a two-bedroom private wing accommodate small wedding parties, with silver service breakfast included. The property hosts special events and meetings for up to 50 people, set against panoramic views of Queenstown and Mount Owen.
